Hey guys,

So I'm thinking either summer after my sophomore year (next summer) or spring junior year. I just want to hear your opinions as well as pros/cons to taking it at each time. Would you have taken it at the time when you did?
Here are my classes that will be completed before next summer: Gen chem, orgo chem, bio 1 and 2, calc 1-3, genetics, biochemistry.
If I wait until spring junior year I can take molecular bio/cell bio, analytical chem and Ill have physics 1 and 2 done (might not help too much but its there). Thanks for any help!

Physics isn't tested on the DAT.
You don't need molecular/cell bio or analytical chem for the DAT. They won't even help you that much.

I recommend taking it after your sophomore year. This way, you a) have gotten it over with early on and have peace of mind and b) if you do need to retake, you don't have to worry about the 90 day waiting period compromising your application.

I know SO MANY PEOPLE who are taking their DAT while applying to dental schools. A few of them did poorly on the DAT and have to wait 90 days (until Dec.) to retake it, and in the meantime they've already spent hundreds/thousands on the application cycle for an application that is not being reviewed by admissions committees since the DAT is not in yet.
