I am currently an undergraduate student in my third year. I was planning on applying to programs this fall because I graduate in May 2014. I haven't taken physiology yet and will be taking physiology 1 and 2 my senior year. Other than those classes I will have the rest of the prerequisites finished (might not have abnormal psych by then but will have developmental psych done by then because most programs prefer it).

My questions are will not having these prerequisites finished during the time of application affect my chances?
Also, if I was interested in taking a gap year in between undergraduate school and graduate DPT school in order to work and save money up for living expenses, when should I apply? Can I still apply this fall and defer admission from a program for a year? Or would I have to reapply the following year?

I would start figuring out who you can get to write letters of recommendation at least 2 months before your apps are due. For letters of rec, you are relying on someone else to get it done, which is really stressful if it starts getting close to the deadline.

I applied while I was still in school (this year became my gap year) and felt that stilling have things to finish worked against me. I think if you have really high gpa like 3.8+ not having you degree probably isn't a big deal.

One of the schools that I am interview with I could apply to last year because they started school before I was done with school. So even if things don't work out look as a gap year as a way to gain more experience and open up opportunities.

So did you apply while you were in school last year, take a gap year then reapply this year?
