Hey all,

If you did well in your early 4th yr rotations but they haven't shown up on your transcript yet, would you wait for them to be posted and then send programs your school transcript? I already have my USMLE transcripts uploaded so they know my Step 1 and 2 scores.

Thanks!

Your school should automatically upload your transcripts to ERAS...my school sent out everyone's transcripts the same day---it was after some grade deadline to make sure that the early 4th year rotation grades were included in the transcript.

Contact your school about how the timing of the transcript upload works---you likely won't have to worry about it unless you have a lot of very delayed grades (and you can always tell programs those grades later, if necessary).

I talked to my school and they said that they don't post 4th year grades on the transcript (which sucks in my opinion). I don't know if I have any other options then. I'm applying in medicine and I honored my sub-I but not my year 3 rotation so I think it does make a difference. Is there anything I can personally do??

Personally, I doubt it matters if you are a typical applicant. USMLE scores and clerkship scores are often some of the first screening tools they use, as well as class rank (i.e. AOA). Program directors can see that your transcripts do not contain 4th yr information. You can try to let programs know you honored your sub-i, but it can probably wait (once interview invites come out, you can email the program coordinator with the new information; this might help you in the ranking process). However, 4th yr grades are usually more, er, inflated, so strong LORs from those rotations probably weigh more than the grade itself. Assuming your LORs include comments that you did an fantastic job on your sub-i, etc. etc., these would also communicate a strong performance. Some letter writers do include the fact, or imply, that you earned honors as well.

My school sent out transcripts very late (mid to late October). Most interview invites were sent out before that...those that came after that seemed to occur after Dean's Letters came out on Nov. 1 (which also has clerkship comments, not just your grades).
