Hey there,

I am trying to work out my schedule for the next year and a half or so, and I'm considering retaking some classes. I jumped into super hard classes at the start of my freshman year and didn't do so well. I've been doing well for the last year (finishing up my junior year now) but my GPA is still suffering due to the hit it took my first 1 1/2 yrs. I am already into my upper level classes (400 level biochem, etc) but I feel that retaking classes would help my GPA more than anything else. I was thinking of retaking physics (C in physics 1, C+ in physics 2), calc (C-), and maybeee gen chem 2 (C). Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm struggling trying to find places to fit these in on top of my other classes, and also get over feeling ridiculous for going back to 100 level science/math along with 400 level bio classes 😛 😉 I know it's worth it to get in in the end, so I just have to remember that!
Anybody that has done this and can comment?

I know the feeling. Luckily I caught myself early so I just have to go back and retake Gen Chem 1 and 2. I'll be the most qualified kid there after completing OChem 1 and 2 and the labs haha. If you still can, try for a few summer courses to lighten the load and focus on that A. Postbacc is always an option too, not the end of the world.

No need to retake calculus, as math classes aren't part of your science GPA.

Maybe you should just retake Physics 1/Gen Chem 2... since those should be almost garaunteed A's the second time. Physics 2 (especially if it's calculus based like at my school) is an intense pain in the butt... not worth it.

So yeah, retake Physics I and Gen Chem 2 would be my advice. But then... you never told us what your current GPA is, so who knows. 😕

If those are your only Cs it might not be worth your time to retake. Use the time to shadow, research, volunteer, etc.
