I just received a phone call from one of the programs I applied to, and was offered an interview. I then received a message by email, asking when would be the best time for me to go for the interview.

Can anybody please advise me on this question: Is it really important to schedule the interview as soon as possible? I am kind of unsure because I applied to several other program in the same state, but have not heard back from them yet. SO, I was hoping to have at least one or two more interviews, and then to schedule the dates so I could do all interviews one after the other.

However, i am also worrying that if I don't go to interview now, then the program may "loose interest" in me, or it may have many other interviews by that time. Is there any sense in my worries?
Please advise

I would say schedule the interview as soon as possible..at least within the next 2 - 3 days..from what ive heard the slots fill up pretty fast..u can schedule ur other interviews accordingly or reschedule if need be..

So, first off, you should DEFINITELY schedule the interview ASAP. That way, you know you have a spot in case they fill up. You can schedule it for a week where you have some extra days. Then, when you get asked for interviews from other programs in the same state, you can try to schedule those around the original one if possible.

Or if you can't, you can always reschedule (or cancel) the original interview date assuming there are still dates available. If you think about it, there will be the same available dates to reschedule as there would have been if you waited. But, this way, in case they fill up, you will at least have something to fall back on even if it's not ideal. I think programs will be much more sympathetic if you need to reschedule then if you procrastinate scheduling in the first place. They understand that people are from out-of-state, etc, and they will try to accomodate you if they can.... But, schedule now!

As far as picking a date to interview. I don't think it matters. Just schedule it for when you are free. Don't worry about early vs. late. Hope this helps.

as for the early vs late part.... would later interviews allow u to b remembered better?

First of all, yeah schedule the interview. I called for an interview yesterday and was told I was the last one for that available day.

Also, I suggest looking at where you applied to in blocks before scheduling.

Each week in December I planned on being in a different area of the country. The first week I'll be in the northeast. The second week I'll be in the southeast part of the country. And in the week leading up to christmas, I'm staying close to home for interviews so I don't have to fly around the holidays.

Preplanning will limit rescheduling. And that way you won't have to fly all over the place in any given week.

As for when it is best to schedule interviews... that's an age-old question and I really don't think it matters. If you interview early and love the program, just let them know you're interested, maybe go back for a second time in late january if you're worried.
