Does anyone know when I should send my official transcript to PharmCAS?

June 11 - Spring Quarter ends (15 units)
July 27 - Summer Session I ends (12 units)
August 31 - Summer Session II ends (another 12 units)
(Grades for each session posted ~2-3 weeks after)

I am aiming for either the August 1 or September 1 deadline for rolling admissions purposes.

Am confused with the timing: (1) send my official transcript NOW, (2) send my official transcript right after Spring Quarter, or (3) send my official transcript right after Summer Session I?

Now that I think of it, I think my main confusion is: after I e-submit my PharmCAS application, can I still request new official transcripts to be sent to PharmCAS? I've read a lot of scary things regarding transcript-processing and I don't want to experience any delays.

Sorry for all the questions 🙁

Hey shikamaru,

I would recommend that you send in your transcript(s) after the spring quarter. Pharmcas takes at least 2 - 3 weeks to process your transcript(s). It's better for Pharmcas to verify the classes you have on your application than to wait.

Yes, you can still request new official transcripts to be sent to PharmCAS after you submit your application.

The thing is after you e-submit you cannot update your "classes in progress or planned courses" until the update window opens in December.Pharmcas states this is where you may add summer and fall coursework. I would not request transcripts or submit until I had the classes done I needed the schools to see.
There is a set deadline for Early decision schools, but rolling admissions just go on a "first come, first served" process.

It depends on when you esubmit....and how much the transcripts cost 🙂 Mine were $5 a pop from my school, ugh. I think in your case it would be wise to send it in now, type in all your proposed classes (the academic update opens end of Dec to Feb I believe to update your spring schedule if you've changed your mind by then) and then send in another transcript after your classes end in August. That way you can still meet those early Aug/Sept deadlines and Pharmcas will update your file to the schools and send revisions when they receive your new info. Good luck!

Are you trying to meet UOP's Tier 1 deadline, which will be on August 1? If yes, then I think the best time would be around July 1. If you send your transcript request form(s) out to your school(s) on July 1, you have a month for the school(s) to send your transcript(s) to PharmCAS. I have read the deadlines on UOP website, it says that as long as you get everything (PharmCAS and UOP stuff) in before August 1, you will be fine. 👍

Like the previous poster said, it takes PharmCAS 2-3 weeks to process your transcripts. With the transit time from your school to PharmCAS and PharmCAS to your pharmacy schools, it could take up to four weeks for your pharmacy school to get the grades. Based on the info you provided, the safest time is after your spring quarter. Are your deadlines real or self-imposed? If they are self-imposed, then you could wait until after the first summer session.

How are your grades? Generally, schools in either admissions route know that you have courses to take that may include prereqs. If you have a great GPA, schools tend to be forgiving and give you the benefit of the doubt that you won't bomb the rest of the way. The Academic Update feature of PharmCAS basically tells schools the courseload and work you did, and the initial e-submit tells them what you will do.
