My classes arent finished, and the grades take 2 weeks to update. So would it be better If I send everything now, would it hurt? I already got more than 100 hours without this semester. do the schools care?

Of course they care. You're not going to get admitted to any schools without final grades from this semester. When will your grades post? AMCAS can't even be submitted until "on or about June 5th" now (according to the web site), so it seems like you have plenty of time to just wait for them.

Any other opinions on this issue?

I've heard that if you have a strong GPA already, its okay to submit transcript + AMCAS on June 5th and leave your final classes for the quarter/semester as pending. But if the boost could help (i.e. 3.57 -> 3.6) then you should wait for the few weeks that it'll take to update transcript and then submit?

Anyone else know if this is somewhat true?

Beat the rush and submit your app ASAP. With a transcript that is the most up to date. You can update your transcript via AMCAS at anytime and get it re-certified really fast. Remember, the lag time is 4-6 weeks if you turn in your app early June but by August you could be looking at 10 weeks of lag time to get verified.

My advice: turn in your transcript as soon as they accept them. I think you don't even need to have your application submitted to do this. then update your app with new grades as they come available. Turn around to update one semester will be cake.

This is incorrect, once you have submitted you cannot change anything except your contact info and the schools you want to send to. You cannot add grades later. If you wanted to add grades at a later date you would have to submit an official transcript to every school you applie to.

You haven't actually gone through this yet have you?

In early June there is practically no wait at all - you will be verified within 48 hours most likely. I originally submitted last year in late June and within 1 day they were already working on verifying it. The 4-6 week thing is an average wait time (through the whole season) it doesn't take that long until August or so. And the 10 week wait time doesn't hit until September/October - check out last years AMCAS verification thread if you don't believe me.

If he does this he has to update every single school individually - that gets expensive for 20 official transcripts.

To the OP - I recommend just waiting. Its not going to hurt you and its that much more coursework to show the adcomms you can handle.

You can't submit your application for verification until June 5th anyway - and even if you couldn't get that last transcript in until the end of June - you will be in the EXACT same review file as all the people that submitted June 1st.

And to all the other people about to post the same question that has already been posted 10 times since Friday - yes submit early, but early just means June/July. Anything within that is exactly the same.

I agree and I'll add two more comments.

The first is that it's not only expensive but it's also potentially useless to update each school individually later on if you submit your transcript now.

It's up to each school to decide whether they want to go through the hassle of recalculating your GPA using the grades from your last term. So if your last term will boost your GPA substantially, I strongly suggest waiting.

The second comment is that AMCAS opens in May and sure you can submit it in June but the schools don't actually view the apps until July so the previous poster is correct in that you will be in the very same group as the first applicants if you complete everything by July.

How long does AMCAS take to verify your Transcripts?

Because my official grades are released for spring quarter on the 25th of June, and if it takes a month to verify... that means schools will look at my app at the end of July.

OP, alwaysaangel's comment is correct. Good luck.

Do schools require that you send them an updated transcript, or do you wait for them to request it? I'll be taking one course (not a pre-req) after I submit, and was wondering if it's going to be necessary to send that transcript to all the schools I apply to.
