I applied to all of my schools late June/early July, which was before I started my job teaching high school. I included that I would be teaching high school in the secondaries under the prompt of "what will you be doing for your gap year" but at that time, I wasn't sure what the job would entail. I am teaching a general science class at a charter school for which there was no set curriculum, so the school has been heavily relying on me to create my curriculum week to week. (this was not included in my secondaries) I also started a club at the school which meets after school each week, and will be coaching soccer in the spring. (So lots of updates)

My question is, when would be the right time to send this update to schools? Is it too early? Should I also include an intent section for my top schools? Any advice is greatly appreciated! 🙂

Considering that most schools stop interviewing in February/March, it’s kind of now or never time. Consider that interviews need to be scheduled in advance, so the interviews go out no later than January

For schools that will accept an update, send it so that it arrives a day or two after the winter break and will be at the top of the inbox and not buried with all the email that came in over the break and on the first day back.
