Is it better to start uworld a bit later once you have hammered the basic stuff from kaplan materials as well as another qbank and get a really high cumulative % through the first run or is it better to dive straight into uworld knowing you might not have nearly as high a cumulative % in the end. Can anyone comment on this who understands what I meant?🙄

I'd just dive right in. UW is a learning tool. You'll be more attuned to concepts in your review material if they're popping up in questions. Time and again active learning and reading with a purpose has been shown to lead to greater retention than passive learning.

If you really need to feel good about your % then just hit reset when the review is over and start again 😛

Start immediately! Don't worry about your % correct.

I finished all the questions during 3rd year and highlighted/marked questions that I thought were difficult and did not reset when I was done. This way I was able to zoom through a second pass quickly during my dedicated study time.

I started recently and it's been great (well, not so much my percentages haha). It takes me an hour to go through a set of 15-20 questions in tutor mode but like somebody mentioned, I read the explanations with a purpose...i.e. wtf was the diagnosis and why the treatment is what it is.

It's making my clinical acumen a bit better and more realistic too because I can reason my way through diagnostic tests and treatment options rather than just throwing stuff out there, FA Step 1 bullet facts style (you know what I mean).

I did UWorld during M2. I finished early in the spring and wanted more questions so I bought Kaplan. In retrospect, it was a waste of a couple hundred bucks - I don't know I learned anything that I couldnt have gotten from somewhere else, plus it made me angry a lot. Do UWorld from the beginning of your 2nd year until you're blue in the face. You will be pleased with your results.
