There seems to be so much freedom as to when I should take COMLEX II, when is the best time? My 4th year starts July 18th and I don't know if I should take a month off to study for it and take it at the end of August or take it in September or October or November?😱 Can someone offer me some advice?
Thanks

I got advice to take it early in 4th year. You may also want to schedule your PE exam NOW. I signed up a week ago and was fortunate to get a date in August (there were a total of 5 spots available in August at the time).

I took the COMLEX PE in July. Relaxed for two weeks; followed by several weeks of hard studying for the written which I took in mid September. Do NOT wait to take these exams. You can take the PE three times in one year and I suggest allowing enough time for such a situation; there were TWO students from the class before me with who this happened to. I wouldn't worry too much about the written; Most everyone who takes the NBME shelf exams score much higher on Part II. I scored 80 points higher and had a really good Part I exam to start off with.

whatever you do, take the PE early to avoid the risking of failing and not having time to retake and consequently not being able to graduate and start residency
