I need some advice. My brother is planning his wedding based around my school schedule. He wants it to be after my second year of school in May. I am attending NYCOM and it is my understanding that school is usually over by May 15th or so for second years in order to provide comlex study time. I need to know how scheduling my test date works. Is there a lot of options? Also, do you think I will regret taking a break from studying to attend a destination wedding (lots of travel time and all that b.s.)? Thanks.

Make it be in the last week of June. Problem solved. You should be studying for a good 2 months beforehand, but crackdown time is really the last 3 weeks. As long as you have nothing at all planned for those last 3 weeks you'll be fine if you take a break sometime during the 2 month lead up.

I agree with the above poster. Take it in the end of June or even sometime in July. I just looked and May 15 falls on a Tues next year. It would be great if you could get him to schedule it for the weekend of the 19th. You'll need a few days of down time anyways between school and boards studying. and yeah, there's lots of options of when to take it.

I would strongly advise to take Comlex Step I before you start rotations. I took mine at end of May because we started in June 1st.

Delaying the test date will not work in your favor. You will not be able to study while on rotations because your first month you will be overwhelmed and will be coming home and have only 1-2 hours to "study".

The available test dates for Comlex I & II stink; there are a lot less dates to take it than USMLE. So I would register early because dates fill up fast. I mean 6+ months in advance. You can move the date around later.
