Just wanted to hear some of your recommendations/arguments for when would be the best time to take the NDBE I during your dental education. What say you?

You really don't have a choice. There's a narrow window of opportunity when your school will allow you to take it.

So if the school has the students take the NDBE I after D2, can one take it after D1 and get it over with? or would that depend on the school (NYU)?

I'm not familiar with NYU in particular. Maybe someone else can chime in with the specifics. A student becomes eligible to take the exam once they have completed all the subjects that will be covered on the exam (this varies from school to school). After this, it is up to the school to determine when they will release their students to allow them to take the exam and to set the deadline for the test date.

I've heard that the ADA recommended taking the boards after your first year. Is this true? If so, what is the basis for waiting another year? What are your reasons for taking them after your first/second year of dental school? Thanks
