I'm starting my fourth year of medical school in NY as a Canadian citizen. I hope to match into a NY state residency program.
I'll doing my intern year on an F-1 OPT and then transitioning to an H-1B (assuming the residency program sponsors it).
I understand that I need to have taken Step 3 before applying for H-1B. But how does the timeline work? When do I need to take Step 3 by, and when does the residency program need to sponsor me for the H-1B?
If I were to get married during residency while on an H-1B, can I just seamlessly transfer over to a green card?
