When to take the DAT if taking one gap year?

So I am gonna start my fourth year this fall, and I plan on applying to dental schools in June 2017 (planning on taking one gap year).
I know no one can say when is the "right time" to take the DAT, but I would just like some advice.
Can I take it in April/May 2017 and my application will be fine?
If you were me, when would you take it?
