I am planning to take DAT at the begining of August. and I dont think I can make a good point at the first time, so I am also gonna take one more DAT.
then, when will be the best time to take it?
I just worried if I can submit DAT point before the deadline.
Help!!

What regmata said.

If you're applying this cycle, I'd say mid-july is the LATEST you'd want to wait in order to catch the early wave.

Why would you want to take it twice? You have to wait at least 3 months before taking it again anyways.

because I think I need more time to study enough for DAT and you know, I am just scared if i won't get good score so, it's just in case.
then which one is better b/w taking DAT soon and three months later taking it again or taking DAT after studying enough just one or two months before the dead line?
please need advice

A month ago...don't plan to take it twice...take it when you can do well

I would take one more month to study and then take it...get your apps out in the mean time

one more question.
is it late to catch the earliest wave if I take DAT at the beginning of Agust?
and what's the difference taking DAT b/w before and after mid-july?
I really appreciate your advice.🙂

I took the DAT 8/14 last year, because that was when i was ready. It would have been nice to have taken it earlier, but I wouldn't have done nearly as well. I still managed to get accepted to 2 schools during the first round and to be offered 6 more interviews by 12/1. It isn't too late to take the DAT in mid-August, it just isn't preferrable. Although, doing well on it is more important...

Why stress yourself out twice when you can do it just once? I'd say take it only when you are ready sometime in aug or very early sept (prob don't want to take it any later then that). good luck

the problem w/ taking it twice is the 3 month gap for the retake. By October, a lot of people will have a majority of their interviews planned out or done with. That means schools will fill up faster and your chances of getting in will be slim, next to impossible! Dental schools wait for no one, get it now??? So just study as hard as you can and try not to take the DAT later than August.

allday, don't listen to this puncho character. He doesn't know what "the early wave" is. I took mine in mid-August last year, and I got into four schools on Dec. 1st. The important part is to have already submitted your AADSAS app by now, which I hope you've done. Good luck.

best time: whenever you're ready or confident that you can do your best but be realistic too eventually the scores will plateau off compared to the effort you put in
