When will these guys learn to do a lethal injection?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Because it is apt. I'm not going to censor myself if the word fits. I didn't coin it or invent it. And I made clear its usage.

So, to anyone who might take offense, save the PC/SJW bullsh*t. I'm getting sick of feeling like I have to be extra careful not to step on some fragile eggshells. Doubly-so when I've already clearly preempted my statements.

Why use the word if you have to follow it with disclaimers and Urban Dictionary links just to make sure people don't think you're a homophobe? Surely you could have come up with some other word.
Who cares if people like you have to look up the word? Remember the furor a few years back when the guy in the blurb below used the word "niggardly" ? Some words just fit. Lighten up Francis.

On January 15, 1999, David Howard, a white aide toAnthony A. Williams, the black mayor ofWashington, D.C., used "niggardly" in reference to a budget.[2]This apparently upset one of his black colleagues (identified by Howard as Marshall Brown), who misinterpreted it as a racial slur and lodged a complaint. As a result, on January 25 Howard tendered his resignation, and Williams accepted it.[3]However, after pressure from thegay community(of which Howard was a member) an internal review into the matter was brought about, and the mayor offered Howard the chance to return to his position as Office of the Public Advocate on February 4. Howard refused but accepted another position with the mayor instead, insisting that he did not feel victimized by the incident. On the contrary, Howard felt that he had learned from the situation. "I used to think it would be great if we could all be colorblind. That's naïve, especially for a white person, because a white person can't afford to be colorblind. They don't have to think about race every day. An African American does."[3]

With respect, your error wasn't in using some dumb trendy bit of slang, or offending gay people unfamiliar with the ivory tower of etymology that is Urban Dictionary, or even offending Europeans ...

It was knowing that the word might distract people from the point you were trying to make and the NPR article you wanted to discuss and using it anyway.

You're a smart guy and are a better communicator than that, so I can only conclude that the real story is that you heard the word "eurofag" today, giggled, and resolved to shoehorn it into a conversation. Mission accomplished. Yay?

Ding ding ding.

I didn't "have to look it up." The person using it preemptively looked it up and posted the definitions, and added a disclaimer. That is a signal to most reasonable people to consider using a word or phrase that doesn't require a preemptive attack, unless they're being intentionally provocative.

I was being intentionally provocative.

Look, there is an elitist group of Eurofags who have determined that our policy is wrong. They have effectively dictated U.S. policy by refusing to ship thiopental to us solely because it is reported to be used in lethal injections. As a result we get a bunch of "botched" injections as have been illustrated in this very thread. This is also one of the drugs of choice in closed-head injury. So their Eurofag elitism also robs patients from a potentially beneficial medication.

They don't deserve polite discourse or my respect. They're not going to get it. Only opprobrium. I'm sick of the lightning-rod politics of factions of intellectuals who disagree with the sovereign decisions of another nation and interfere with them the only way they can. This is de facto policy making by people who have no skin in the game. It is a sanction. It is far different than, for example, sanctions imposed on militaristic nations who invade other sovereign nations under whatever guise. And, as a result, we have states like Ohio who are trying to pass legislation that keeps the process secret. Who does that benefit? The American public?

Proto-socialist Eurofagism at its finest rearing its ugly head. And I'm speaking specifically of the Italians who, as many of you will recall, gave us Mussolini.

I'm not talking about all Europeans. I made that clear. So don't try to move the goalposts.

I'm talking about a specific group who's decided to deprive legitimate use of a particular medication to deserving patients because of political ideology they don't agree with. This smacks of elitism and ultimately lack of compassion as well as meddling in the internal administration of justice in a sovereign nation.

But then again maybe if we send Amanda Knox back to be re-tried in their kangaroo court they'll let us have our thiopental. Isn't that the mentality that we're dealing with here?

Nah! Instead we'll just pass legislation that seeks to hide the process from everyone, including such irrelevant groups like the ACLU, Amnesty International, and the American public. What you don't know can't hurt you, right?

Nobody is moving goalposts here. You are the one scoring own goal after own goal.

I don't see why the European embargo for thiopental is much different than the tons of embargos we have imposed on various governments we didn't like during history. It's downright insignificant compared to us, a drop in the ocean.

Why is elitist to not believe in the death penalty, by the way? The ASA doesn't either. Is THEIR embargo OK and non-elitist?

And why aren't we making our own thiopental? It's not like it can be mined only in Europe.

Hilarious response. It really is a dumb "word".

And why not propofol? Are phenol and propene only available overseas?

That's precisely the proposal in Ohio. To use propofol. And not tell anyone about it. So the Eurofags won't get their panties in a bunch. They will only assume that we're using it. Crisis averted. 🙄

I don't know if anything is more hilarious than Americans (I am one), getting fired up about the meddling of one country in the "sovereignty" of another! And Europeans are the elitists?! Holy Christ...
I don't know if European's look down on us as a society, but they definitely should. We are the Neanderthals of the western world. We're war-mogerers, we accept massive civilian casualties as long as they're not our own,we kill our prisoners, we torture, we believe more guns are the answer to rampant gun violence. All while claiming to be the most spiritual western country. We are an embarrassment.
