I saw all these posts of "Black Females" and "asians" and "arab males," etc... WHERE ARE THE PERSIANS AT?

Hello, I'm one of them Persians 😀
Unfortunately, contrary to popular belief, my friends who are Persian are not applying to med school (come to think of it, none of my friends are applying to med school!!!) so it'd be nice to discuss it with some other Persians out there.
I'm in the process of reapplying since I didn't get in this year... 🙁
I applied to 15 schools the first time, but I've doubled that this time and will be doing a post-bacc program this year, so hopefully that makes a difference!!!

I live in Dallas and from my university I can tell you at least 90% of the Persians are apply for some kind of a health profession, mainly medicine and dentistry. This year will be my first round of application, and i'm applying to 15 out of state and all the 7 schools in Texas. we'll see how it goes.. Shomaha bache kojain?

Well we got two names........we could switch to either one we like. Persia is the ancient name and sometimes we just like to show how ancient our culture is.

This is the topic of a lot of discussion, and I think I remember reading about it in another thread. Actually when people ask me what ethnicity I am I always say Iranian, but I use Persian interchangeably. Some people don't like to say Iranian because they think Persian sounds "cooler" or more harmless, and some people say Persian to show their disagreement with the current regime in Iran. I'm not saying I know everything on this issue, but that's my 2 cents.

If you care, here is an editorial that discusses this issue that I thought was interesting. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with it so please don't flame me people 🙂
