Members don't see this ad.
I have bought that book off of the AMCAS website listing all the schools, but still have no clue where to apply with a below avg GPA, I have been studying my butt of for the MCAT so plan on getting a slightly above avg score. SO as to where to apply ( I KNOW NOT TO APPLY TO PLACES LIKE HARVARD) can you guys suggest something? I would really appreciate it.

It's really not worth thinking about this until you know your MCAT score. That will make a HUGE difference.

Once you know your MCAT score, if you still want advice, you should also let people know what sorts of things are important for you in a school (curriculum, location, size, etc.)

yeah i have a low gpa so the average gpas did nothing for me....and i didnt even bother looking at those to see which schools i would apply to.

i only looked at the mcat averages for each school since my mcat was pretty decent. i also chose schools based on location, what my friends who have applied in the past have told me about certain schools, whether or not i would fit in with the other students there etc...

i wouldnt count out any school just because you dont feel competitive enough, i mean the admissions process is a random one and a surprise could be lurking here and there. so if you want go ahead and apply to hopkins and some other top schools that you would be happy at.

but right now the search for schools is almost futile since you dont know what your mcat is.

in the end i chose to apply to 43 schools...and even now i wished i applied to a couple more.

I think there is only one UTMB school. It is called UTMB.

But I agree that you should apply to all or most of the schools in the Texas system. The Texas match ensures that the maximum number of people get into schools in Texas, so you're chances are good, plus they are mostly some pretty good medical schools.

Yes, I have, and yes, I did. I'll be going to USC next fall.

i applied to something like 53 schools. Now I wish I had applied to a couple more, or trimmed a few from my life.
