Congrats Raj!! Quick question, what's categorical?

for general surgery, there's categorical and prelim--a little different than anesthesia. Categorical means you get 5 years of training. it's a full surgical residency. Preliminary is only one or two years, which does not lead to board eligibility in general surgery.
Preliminary is further divided into designated or non-designated.
Designated is basically someone who is doing a year or two of general surgery, with another training program already matched for afterwards. usually things like ENT, Neurosurg, Plastic surgery, orthopedics, urology, or anesthesia.
Non-designated means that you're going to do a year or two of general surgery while trying to apply to something else. Often general surgery, but also often anes, urol, etc.

Yes, I am from LECOM. I managed to succeed despite the school. Thanks for the props....allopathic gen. surgery is nothing to sneeze at.👍

I sold my gamecube 2 months before step 1. best thing i ever did. you can ask anyone from my class at DMU--i probably played about 30-40 hours per week. There were three of us (two who are still in school) who were hard-core mariokart players. We were all pretty good. I'll be in des moines for graduation. maybe i'll stop by your house just to crush you kart.

i heard LECOM matched 3 people into top 10 gas programs this year--you, suprane, and another guy at UMich. That's really strong work. btw, i'm from erie originally--i'll bet you're glad to be getting the hell out of there, huh?

I'm a dmu'r 2007...........and Raj is correct he played alot of video games, but I got a ps3 and Wii now to work on my hand-eye coordination.

I don't think that this is accurate, but then again I am pre-med until I actually attend my first med school class at PCOM.
