Average meaning a LizzyM of around a 2 +/- 60 ( gpa x 10 + Mcat score).

So the reason I ask is due to a curiosity of mine, DO stats seem to be very bimodal. And as such if a candidate is actually an average one I want to know where they would fall in, i.e accepted to low or high tier schools or etc.

Do you mean 58-62 range? That's kind of tight.

62.1 . Northeast (not NY) resident. Primary: late July . Secondaries: early September.
Applied: 9 DO schools.
Interview invites: KCUMB LECOM-B invited in sept for October dates. LECOM-E in oct for january. NYCOM- November for November date.
Waitlisted: KCUMB- nov
Accepted: LECOM-b - nov and NYCOM-dec.
Had 1 do letter and one md.

Below or different than that gets into the uncompetitive range.

59
Primary: August
Secondary: October
Interviews: ACOM & SOMA both in January
Accepted: ACOM & SOMA in January

LizzyM score 62. (3.4 cGPA, 3.7sGPA, 28Q)

Applied to 6 DO schools in January, complete late January. IL resident, non-URM, non-trad.

Accepted: KCOM, AZCOM
Waitlisted: MUCOM
Interviews scheduled: SOMA, LECOM
Also applied: CCOM

MD letter only. Hope this helps!

Why did you apply so late?

65.5. Texas resident white male. Applied to all Texas schools on June 21. interviews at El Paso and tcom (sept). Pre matched to tcom on December 6th and went wt the acceptance. I would have taken tcom over El Paso (MD school) anyway.

That sounds good.

Why did you apply so late?

I wasn't planning on applying til next year, but I thought I'd give it a shot for this year, just in case. I figured my stats were good for DO but I'd have no shot at MD, so I went ahead and applied this year.

DO or MD Letter:

White male (ESL though).

3.77 cgpa, 3.76 sgpa, 24 MCAT = Lizzy score of 61.7

Primaries late June, Secondaries early July

I got interviews at SOMA, KYCOM, MUCOM, CUSOM, KCUMB, and LMU.

Accepted to KCUMB 👍 and withdrew everything else.

DO Letter.

LizzyM 61.1 (averaged science and cum GPA) For additional stats see MyMDApps.

I'm as white as they get. From Utah.

Applied to 9 schools completed 8 of the secondaries (saved a few bucks by not putting the last one in).

Interview Invite from 5 of them: DMU, KCUMB, NSU, ATSU-KCOM, ATSU-SOMA.
Attended all but DMU.

Accepted at all 4 that I interviewed at.

Attending KCOM this summer!

Had 2 DO and 1 MD letter. (didn't mean to get one of the DO letters but the guy offered)

Ill join in......

White, AZ resident

MCAT: 30
GPA: 3.7c 3.8s
LizzyM score: 67 or 68

Submitted AACOMAS Early June
Verified Late June
Most Secondaries done middle of July

Number of schools applied: 9 DO (plus a handful of MD schools)
Interviewed in September for both AZCOM, DMU. 6 more II's came over the rest of the cycle but did not attend due to AZCOM acceptance (#1 DO school on my list)
What schools accepted you: AZCOM (DMU-WL)

MD and DO letter.

I dont really buy the LizzyM score tbh. According to the score I am an "average" applicant with a 61. But the breakdown of that is a 3.0 31, I think a guy with a 3.7 24 or a 3.5 26 is at a much much better position than me.

LizzyM score of 59.8 (don't want to post my exact stats)

Non URM, from the Midwest

Primaries submitted in June, secondaries completed by August at the latest

Interviews Invites: CCOM, MU-COM, AZCOM, KCOM, VCOM-CC, LECOM-Bradenton (went to all except for KCOM)

Accepted: MU-COM

Waitlisted: CCOM, AZCOM, VCOM-CC, LECOM-Bradenton

Have a DO letter. Out of the 9 DO schools I applied to I got 6 interviews, 2 rejections, and 1 is still out there.

IIRC, you got accepted to MU off the waitlist which means you got waitlisted 5 times? Must have been frustrating.

Haha oh yeah I forgot to put that (keeping tabs on me? 😉 lol). I think I forget sometimes because I was on the Marian waitlist for only a couple weeks. And yes...super frustrating! Also waitlisted twice last cycle so I've been waitlisted 7 times in my life lmao. And the funny thing is I talk to every school and I've been told I interview well. I did poorly in a grad school class though so I think that tends to pop up as a red flag. :bang: Ah well, only takes 1 to say yes! 🙂

I'm pretty close, LizzyM = 64

I feel like that puts too much weight on GPA though. Maybe it should be an average between the two.

Definitely... LizzyM should use the average s/cGPA. My sGPA is higher than my cGPA (3.15 cGPA, 3.35 sGPA); therefore, I am using the average to calculate my LizzyM score. I think other should do the same. Can you please make that correction LizzyM to your formula using the average GPAs?

The LizzyM isn't a gold standard, it's just an easy method of calculating things quickly because again for the majority peoples sgpa is very close. But alright, if we calculate an average then 3.45 + 3.3 /2 = 3.37 + 26.5 = ~ 60.

What LizzyM score range is competitive for DO?

Edit... Thanks for answering my question before I even posted it. Lol...

I think applying early is definitely one of the easiest things you can do to help yourself out. I feel like interviews went well and still got no love from anywhere:

MCAT 28
cGPA 3.8
sGPA 3.9
Non-Trad with interesting work experience outside of medicine
~500 hrs actual patient-care hours as EMT

Primary Complete Late September
Secondaries completed by Nov but waiting on DO Letter until Dec.
Interview Invites: DMU, LECOM, UNECOM, PNWU, COMP-NW, Touro-CA, KCOM,
Interviews FEB @: DMU, LECOM, Western COMP-NW Cancelled others due to travel $ and so late in cycle probably just waitlist spots.

Waitlist: DMU, LECOM
Withdrew App from COMP-NW. (I've gotta pump my own gas) And lecture by video stream is a bit hokie for $49,000/yr

Primaries complete in early September, secondaries as they came in.

Completed 3 DO secondaries (KCUMB, DMU, ATSU-KCOM)

Interviewed at latter two.

Accepted at both.

So looks like a lot of lower gpa/ high mcat combos in this range.

A few of the posts with stats are well above average..

Yah, a lot of people are posting with LizzyM's in the 65+'s which are well above even the highest averages of some schools. But it's cool, more information is always good.

Strong this.

Low GPA high MCAT checking in and I'm happy it wasn't the other way around for me. I had a very strong upward trend which softens the blow of my GPAs significantly and a high MCAT will do wonders. Gogo 28+, best advice for DO.

On the other hand, I had the opposite and still got in. Crap shoot. *shrugs*

Depending on which one we're using my Lizzy M is either a 61.5 or 95.8

You applied fairly late with a high GPA/low MCAT. Did this get brought up in interviews at all? I'm worried that I will be in this boat, if my MCAT doesn't turn out great. If I score 27+ I will have (relatively) no worries.

Also, I see a lot of people getting accepted to ACOM very late in the season. Are fewer people applying to this school because of the high tuition? Safe school to apply to later in the season?
