I was wondering where everybody works while attending college and how many hours a week do you work. If your not currently employed state what was your previous job.

I work as a part-time 311 call representative for ~20 hours every week while being full time predental student.

I work part time at a dermatology clinic.. Trying to find a dentist to shadow tho=D

worked as dental assistant part time 20hrs/week.

wow, alot of you guys work in clinics how did you manage to get that gig?

I have two jobs..

dental assistant at the private dental office (~10hours/week) and clinical research associate position at the nearby med center.. (~15hours/week)..

the gym, haha...not as medical-related as all you, but who else would pay me to work out and do homework?

Full-time college athlete (football)...40+ hours a week...

Police Officer/Medic I work 44 hours a week, grave yard shift. really sucks with school

I have three part time jobs: ~ 10 hours/week at a bakery--baking, decorating cakes etc., ~4 hours a week working for one of my professors (helping to run experiments), and ~10 hours/week at a nearby university working as a student research assistant. I love all of my jobs--they are really flexible with my school schedule.

I work at a computer software company 40 hours a week and full time school. Thankfully my job is not super high stress and they allow me to leave work a couple days a week for school.

Holy crap....

If you ever decide to write a book on time management, I will be the first in line.

Congrats man :)

I work 20 hours a week at a medical laboratory while going to school full time. I have a wife and one child as well.

Wow! How do you guys do *all* that?

I work 8 hours a week in a research lab. I do like nothing.

Gov. contract ---Energy

Well I just graduated in Dec.
so as of now working as a technician on campus for 40 hours a week
and tutoring hopefully about 6 hours a week

I'm a jack of all trades...master of none (but hopefully that will change in 4 years ;) ). I work as a computer tech during the school year, a construction/house painter dude during the summer and I shrink wrap boats during the winter.

I'm an Environmental Protection Specialist (full time-graduated already). Just a fancy name for an environmental inspector. I make sure our ocean doesn't get polluted. When I was in school I worked in a lab in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology (20 hrs./week). I have also worked as a secretary, waitress, cartoon and movie impersonator at children's parties, at an amusement park and others I can't remember.

I thought I'd throw in my job because I find it really interesting.

I'm a technician that removes organs and tissues from human donors for research and educational purposes. I've heard some dental students are each assigned a head, now you know where those come from. But basically I have pulled almost every single organ from the body as well as nerves and vessels and stuff...it's fun.

My time commitment ranges from 0-20+ hours a week because it's on call.

I also work at the dorms on campus (+/- 10hours).

And I'm in process of securing a job working for a local oral surgeon. Pretty excited.

And you're right, it's all about time management...so many people around me just waste soooooooo much time. I like to take advantage of what I've got.

O....the other time consuming job.....my girlfriend. they should seriously count that as a job on applications  , because they sure suck up any free time that is left

I work at the gym too, I teach aerobics and its awesome! The free gym membership and getting paid to work out is definately a perk!

I graduated in Dec. but while in undergrad i had a sweet research job in a Neuro Lab @ OSU Med Center. I did surgeries on mice while they were knocked out with ketamine. I placed a small cannula (a 10 mm piece of needle that is cut and placed into a larger diameter 12 mm needle) through the skull and into different parts of their brains. Such as Hippocampus, 3rd ventricle, and Lateral ventricle. The cool thing is that I had to use dental sealant to cap off the skull so there were no infections. I love the smell of dental sealant! I also had to clean their Sh** from their cages.

I'm a nanny of four kids ages 2+ months to 11+ years old. Lot's of attentions needed and 24 hrs on calls to these precious jewels.

Sweet that is right by where my girlfriend lives, I'll have to go there sometime. I work in construction my old man is a general contractor so I have done a little bit of everything, but i prefer tile and I work 30-40 hours per week while going to school and 60 in the summers. It sucks and could quite possible be the main reason I have chosen dentistry.
