Where does the 3.5 and a 30 come from?

I hear this a lot but it seems like (by looking at the MSAR) that 3.6 and a 31'ish is the standard:scared:

Since I fit more towards the 3.5 and a 30, this scares me.

If that's the average, then there are some people over that, and some people under that. So don't worry! You're golden!
 
The average is actually a 3.5 and 29.4 or around there. For most private schools it's a bit higher. It's the state schools that brings that MCAT avg score down.

Actually there are couple of schools with lower than your score.

Medical College of Ohio has a 3.4 and 27 average.

Finch has slightly higher GPA but lower MCAT score, of 3.6 and 29

Ohio state has a 3.6 and 30 MCAT.

I think it all depends on the school.

Tufts has a 3.48 GPA range

those are just averages. people above and below get in.
 
dude, i got into loyola, a private school, with 3.5ish gpa and 27 mcat....you're made of more than numbers bro :D
