Where to apply???

I'm new to this site. I'm a dental hygienist and my husband is applying to dental school for 2007. We can't decide where to apply because we really on't know very much about many of the schools. He has a 4.0 overall and in the sciences. He will be taking the dat soon and applying in May. Here are the schools we are considering. Please let me know what you guys have heard or experienced about these schools. Also, if you suggest any others, let me know.
-Maryland, North Carolina, Baylor, San Antonio, Houston, U.O.P., Ohio, Colorado, Oregon
-Possibilities: Marquette, Creighton, Virginia Commonweath, South Carolina, ???

We want to have some schools that are shoe-ins to ensure that he gets in somewhere. How many schools do most people apply to? Let me know what you guys think or what you have heard.

Are you from Texas?

If so, I'd stay in state with the low tuition costs.

No we're not from Texas. We're from Arizona. However, we like Texas and like the fact that they're so cheap. We are aware that they really do not accept many out of staters, but my husband wants to give it a try anyways.
