Which boards resource is overrated?

BnB was overrated for me. He goes into WAY too much detail on a lot of things. I wish i knew this going in because I used to try and memorize every word he says. Dont do this! Biggest waste of time. Some of his lectures are amazing (inborn errors in metabolism is one of them-omg this is gold). Ill tell you some EXTREMELY underrated resources-Dirty medicine vids on youtube, Sketchy Pharm and Goljan for the car. I truly think these resources within the last few weeks of dedicated is what bumped me over 250 on the real thing. And knowing sketchy pharm cold (and I mean cold) will make you walk on water on the wards in 3rd year if you really know the **** out of it

You must've meant to put Lecturio here. Board vitals being crap I can get behind, but BRS?? First time I've ever heard anyone say that about BRS, wow.

I'm not the only one with that opinion, lots of folks are Reddit feel the same, as do the majority of my classmates.

Fair enough. I will say the only issue I had with BRS is that there weren't enough practice questions, lol

When it comes to M1 physio and stuff BRS is awesome! But yeah not enough qs

I mean, the whole point of BRS is the practice questions...that's what I thought, at least. But if you're using it as a primary text, I could easily see why you think it's crap @esob. Might as well just use big Costanzo instead if someone's looking to develop a phys background

I like it for questions too. But yeah, BRS is definitely not meant to be a primary text. Just like first aid.

If you want extra practice q's that won't be available by the time you hit dedicated, NBME's 13/15/16/17/19 are free until September and my understanding is that they will be retired after that, so you have nothing to lose by doing them (ie. it won't dip into your practice NBME's)

Thanks, but unfortunately, those forms aren't representative anymore. Between qbanks, the current NBMEs, and the new forms, I've got plenty haha

I would never use it as a primary text. Compared to the vast amount of other q banks to draw from, BRS q's are simply inferior and the most unlike NBME questions out of the resources I have encountered. BNB questions, RX question, Uworld, Amboss, Kaplan, and OFC retired and sample NBME's have all been significantly closer to the retired NBME questions that we take for our high stakes exams. I suppose, if I had made it through all my other Qbanks I would probably still take a run at BRS, but there isn't usually time to get through the above-listed items, so it's doubtful I will ever use BRS again.

I hear that. As an M1, BRS really served its purpose for what it was, and that was learning physiology well.

Edit: I will say that I don't consider BRS to be a boards resource by any means, and I don't understand why some people use it in that manner, unless it's to quickly brush up on physiology.

The brs have been good in some of my modules for prepping for the faculty exams. They don’t super help with nbme, but they help with faculty exams here. Mostly I use it as like a first aid for phys and path.
