I am trying to take a few science courses before I apply June 2011. I have a few options for this summer but am not sure which course to enroll in. Which would be most beneficial? Any advice would help!!

- Molecular Biology (Never taken this course.)

- Human Anatomy (I've taken this before during college several years ago and received an A... would be used as a refresher and prep for the MCAT.)

- Intro to Physiology (This is an online course. Are online courses frowned upon? Also, the "Intro to" make me think it's a very basic course. I did take an in-depth course in college and received an A.)

Thanks!

I had a very similar choice and decided to take molecular biology. Human anatomy is completely irrelevant for the MCAT. Online courses are frowned upon (I had the option to take an in-person physiology course, but the prof. supposedly isn't that great and the class is superficial where I was considering taking it).

Molecular and cell biology are the basis of biology (central dogma of biology). Apparently it is vital to understand this to do well on the MCAT. Physiology would be my next choice (though not an online version of the course). Also, if this is the UC Berkeley Ext online course, don't even consider it.

They aren't going to know its an online class unless you tell them. It doesn't say on any of my transcripts whether a course was online or not.

If you've already had a higher physiology class then why take another one that is more basic? Waste of time and money. And I agree with the previous poster... from what I've heard anatomy classes won't help you prepare for the questions on the MCAT.

Take molecular biology.

Thank you for the quick responses. Molecular Bio it is!

(and yes, this is UC Berkeley Ext.)

If it's Priniciples of Molecular Bio this summer at UC Ext in Redwood City, you'll be in my class.

Great!

I am 99% sure I'll be taking this one... I work in Fremont though so I just need my boss to confirm/guarantee that there's no problem with leaving work a little early on those days.

Molecular Bio is a popular subject matter on the MCAT. Mastering the concepts of MB will also help you in Med school. I plan to take all three courses you've listed.
