I am going to be a junior this fall and im interested in a variety of careers like dentistry and podiatry, but DO sounds really interesting also. I have shadowed plenty in each of these professions and have researched extensively but am still unsure about what direction to go. My school has a liberal studies degree that will allow me to select what courses I want to take. I hate math courses and the bio degree requires pre-calc. and calc w/analytical geometry. I noticed that most schools dont have a math requirement but will this be looked down upon if I have only taken stat and algebra? I will be however taking all upper division science classes like immunology and biochem etc. Thanks for any input. 😉

Some schools have no math requirement, UMDNJ does. UMDNJ requires 6 hours of college level math which what you mention should satisfy. However, there is a full year physics requirement and the physics course must be geared for science majors which means calculus based physics at most universities and it also means calculus will be a pre-req for it. It will be rather hard to avoid taking calculus 1 to get into medical school but it may be possible. Calc 1 is easy anyway compared to calc 2 and you can totally avoid calc2 =) Good luck
