Which DO schools let you switch to in-state tuition?

Hey anyone have any idea which DO schools let you switch to in-state tuition after the first year? I thought Rowan did for a while but then I read the fine print and you cant. Otherwise anyone know of any others? Specifically MSU?

OSU allows you to get IS tuition after the first year but you have to sign a contract that said you will work in Ohio for a few years after you graduate. Unfortunately, MSU does not let you get IS tuition after the first year.

Lol...those guys in Tulsa must really think highly of Ohio, helping out with their physician shortage like that.

Oh no way so if you continue paying oos at Ohio you don't have to sign? I was under the impression that it was a contract for even attending the school?

You can buy out of the contract. The price of buying out varies from year to year, but it's always close to the price of another year of attendance. So, it's like paying for 5 years of medical school when you obviously only get 4 years.

You have to practice in Ohio for five years. Completing a residency in Ohio (They prefer you to complete it at a CORE-site.), counts towards those years. If you go somewhere else to complete your residency, you must return to Ohio and practice medicine in the state for a total of five years.

Wow... as an out of state student who almost chose to go to UMDNJ/Rowan, that makes me very glad I didn't...

WVSOM doesn't allow you to switch to instate tuition. I was initially attracted to this school because of the low tuition that would be charged for years 2-4, but found out you need to show that you have been a resident for an extended period of time. The admissions office informed me that it is "extremely rare, nearly impossible" to get instate tuition. I wish I would have known that before applying there. WVSOM = 19,950/year instate, 49,950/year for out of state.
