Hey all,
I'm a big fan of both Pathoma and RR for different reasons. I'm using them along with my MS2 classes (at least trying to).

My way of studying involves really learning and understanding every concept every word and not fudging over any details bc I think they're not high yield (I think the more low yield I know it provides better background for the high yield to stick).

I know that RR covers everything Pathoma covers and more. I want to know things at the RR level and not just the pathoma level however I feel that pathoma offers a good way to categorize and understand things in your head. Ideally I'd like to do both and know them really really well.

Another reason for RR is that it covers almost everything that is covered in my classes vs Pathoma only covers the bare bones (although really well).

I've considered not doing pathoma at all and just crunching RR and saving Pathoma for later.
My question to you guys is which one should I do first or should I do both concurrently?

As an aside I'm also doing Kaplan Videos for all my physio needs (not too big on costanzo bc the vids keep me actively taking notes and learning)

Recently started GT for older subjects like micro/biochem (lets just say I recently became a good student and need to brush up).

Exam is June 19. Goal 240+

All comments appreciated.

Honestly w/o SDN I don't know what I'd do.

Pathoma is a very short read. I did both together. It took a little bit more time than I would have liked but now I have the Pathoma book with all the notes from Dr. Sattar's online lectures. When I read RR again I plan to quickly read the corresponding chapter in Pathoma first. It shouldn't take long.

I agree with the idea of doing both. I do the corresponding chapters in each for my classes. For example Endocrine disorders which we just started. My question is what people think is better. The Pathoma chapter first or the Goljan chapter first? Or doing them side by side section by section.

Pathoma is easier to do first. Goljan takes me forever unless I already know it from class or learned it from pathoma.

I would think doing Pathoma first and then reading Goljan would be better. I think I would be very slow if I tried to do it section by section. But if you can do it and find it better then there's no reason why you shouldn't really. If not, Pathoma chapter first followed by the corresponding chapter in Goljan.

I agree I use Pathoma for each chapter then read the RR for the chapter then do webpath on the same topic then move onto Robbins and Coltran Pathology Review Q book. Then Robbins flash cards for that topic. I think Pathoma is best when you are starting off. RR has too much info and understanding the basics from Pathoma goes a long way.

Target Score = 270 +
Test Date = June 28
Book Sources = Kaplan HY videos + Pathoma + RR+ FA + Robbins Review of pathology+ Med essentials
Q bank = Kaplan + Usmlerx + Usmle world + NBME 7, 11 &12 + web path

Hey Joseph,

Wanted to know how exactly you use webpath for studying. I use it occasionally for path images and/or the imaging correspondants for a topic but does the site have anything worth spending time on? Just curious since I've read other people also recommending using it.

Do not use web path to study. Web path tends to quiz people on details. Think of web path as a quiz for details. I would recommend kaplan q bank for details for over web path.
I want you to know I have not taken Step 1 so I have no idea how much webpath will help me on step 1 . However, I do not think it will hurt me. I want to urge everyone not to do a q bank called score 95, it is full of errors.
