I went through this situation about two years ago when I was in last quarter of o-chem. I knew I was doomed with a C pretty much no matter what I did. My counselor at the time advised me to take the C (even though I had plenty of C's on my transcript already) so that's what I did. However, all these threads on SDN about W's being pretty much no problem got me thinking that I probably should have taken the W instead.

I know my situation is over with and done. This thread is to help the pre-dents who might be reading this and deciding the same thing.

Which would you take? The W or the C?

If it is just one, I would personally take the C, but I am very interested in what everyone else will say.

well the OP said he had plenty of other C's....so in this case i would have taken the W. i had a W on my transcript and was never questioned about it at my interviews.

If it is early enough in the semester to withdraw then there is potentially enough time to turn the grade around. I would stay in it and shoot for a B.

I would take a C any day over a W! I took my c+ in German last semester like a man!!

Depends on your GPA... if your GPA is really low I'd take the W, if it's relatively high I'd stick with the C and get that class over with!

I got my C+ last semester in Biochemistery, Noway go trough Biochemistry again. it is only C in my transcript but I have bunch of W's. The point is : Dental school want to ba asured you can handle heavy loaded courses over there, for this reason your advisor told you take C not w.

i would just retake the class and shoot for an A
