Which is most effective?

Being published doing clinical research in a field of interest, or being published doing basic science research?

I'm currently doing clinical research for a surgeon and I have a deadline coming up in 3-4weeks (I was assigned this study on Monday). I am done except analysis and write-up is needed to be done. The surgeon wants me to have it done so the abstract can be submitted to a journal conference and then eventually published.
