I heard it was Tufts, or Colorado for out-of-staters.

Anybody know or have a link to the list? Thanks!

what about average indebtedness (excluding undergrad debt)? Any rankings for that statistic?

Wow. Besides Texas, my state's is the lowest....sweet. 🙂

What the heck? How can NC, Texas, and Mississippi have such low student costs? At UC Davis, I pay almost double that amount! Thats crazy.

Does anyone know how these states afford it? Do they just have massive taxes?

Why does San Antonio pay so much in the way of fees compared to the other Texas schools?

Nope, TX for one has no state income tax and only a sales tax.

I guess these states have just prioritized cheap in-state medical education to increase the number of physicians there.

Even Baylor, a private school, offers in-state tuition ($6,500) because the state has given them money to keep 75% of their class TX residents. The other TX public schools have very similar tuition rates as well, for the same reason.

And this philosophy has worked very well, I know several students from TX who went out of state for undergrad, including myself, but who are coming back to TX for med school and we will probably end up doing residency/fellowship/practicing there. And a lot of people from this OOS ugrad TX group have acceptances to top 10, top 20 schools. So it definitely looks like the policy is effective. So everyone wins!

What about nonresident at:
University of Illinois at Chicago-- $46,010 plus living in Chicago
or
University of Missouri, Kansas City---$50,297 ????? 😱

I hearr Ohio state is USD 44 000 a year for the first 2 years and then USD 33 000 for the last 2 years

i think when you factor other things such as cost of living, etc in, Tufts and BU take to the top in one of the few rankings where you don't wanna be #1!

At the interview, they said that it was 44K for out of state for the first year for out of staters, and then 19K for the other three years.

I may be wrong, but when looking at expense, shouldn't you also look at the financial package the schools give? Some schools are expensive, but they give out a lot of scholarships and low- interest loans. In the end it's the total debt that counts.
