Hi everyone.
I wonder if I should drop Org II class now, accept a W, then retake the class and get a B; or continue the class and accept a C in this semester.
My cumulative GPA (81 semester hrs) will be 3.56 with a C and 3.62 with a B. The key issue is that I have got one B for Inorganic and one C for Ochem I.
Give me some advice, please?
Thanks very much.

Do u have many W? How is the rest of ur science GPA? I'd honestly drop it and work my ass off to get at least a B+. Ochem is super important for admission, having two C is unless u have really high PCAT score might hurt quite a bit.

I got A for almost the other science classes, physio, anato, micro, calculus, physics, and one B for bio. I have no W so far, but I concern very much about the C in Ochem. I understand all the materials at home, but often have an empty mind when sitting on the test in front of mechanism and synthesis problems.
Thanks for your advice.

You could try auditing the class too. Then you can still learn the information but won't be graded on it. I think the W might be better since you already have that other C and no Ws so far.

Thank you fenixtnlfan, I've dropped the class. Auditing is definitely helpful but I have no mood to sit in the class of that instructor. More than half of the class have dropped. I will make my ochem an A next semester with a better instructor.

i would take the W because it doesn't count toward the GPA while a C would factor in your GPA.

I would take a C. Do you really want to sit though Orgo again?

Yes, that is a good point. Everybody wants to finish prerequisites as fast as possible. In fact, I start to love Ochem and want to make it my favorite as it would be my main food in 4 years if I am admitted to pharmacy school. Let's try.

nonononono...never rush through prereqs. at least if you're not prepared to take the amount of workload. i did that my freshman year and my gpa is no good...and most of my units are from lower division science classes. thankfully i still have upper division to prove myself, but i'll probably end up retaking the 2 or 3 C-'s i have...loL
this is a long and arduous road...

I would take the C. W's don't count towards your GPA but they are there on your transcipt... W seems to be interpreted as you coudn't do it... If you could retake O Chem again do it somewhere else and keep that C... Make sure u get the A the next round..

Yes, you are right. I must get an A. Thanks very much.
