My goal is med school. But I still need bachelor's degree. Since I love everything about health and humans body I really don't want get degree in something else. I was thinking about nursing school or health science ( I found only Kaplan University that offers that program). But is online degree any good for med school?
I heard is hard or impossible to go to med school after nursing. Is it true?
I really don't know what is the best way to get to med school, I also wanna have good degree in case if i don't get accepted in med school or if I change my mind over time. Any advice?
Thank you...

Really? You love everything?

All joking aside since your specific major doesn't matter and you want something that's marketable - perhaps a BS in kinesiology (or something similar) from any accredited 4-yr institute might peak your interest.

I don't believe any accredited US schools accept online degrees.

Also, remember you need to fulfill all the prerequisite courses, many of which would not be offered/covered in a vocational program like nursing or another health related field.

I know some schools offer combined BS/RN degrees which could be to your liking. My Undergrad, Emory, offers a 4 or 5 year program where you get a BS degree in a field of your choice (most people do bio) followed by a nursing degree. Probably not the best path to med school though.

Just to be nitpicky - there are schools that don't require any degree at all (although you should probably take a lot of in-person courses to demonstrate proficiency)!

The complication this is many real universities that offer online courses/degrees will not note that in a transcript. Their view is that if we are putting our school's name on an online course or degree, then it should be equivalent to the quality of our brick and mortar classes. This has been an issue between the UG and medical schools growing for about 10 years now. Since online classes are becoming more and more popular, there has been discussions at AMCAS that may start adding questions or check boxes for each course you list on the application as "classroom", "online" or "hybrid."

Very true. I'm currently dealing with this exact problem since I took a "hybrid" English course and one of the schools I've been accepted at just told me they won't honor it.

I wonder what will happen to the students at big state schools as most of the basic pre-reqs shift to be only offered in hybrid/online form.

Ok...thank you for all your answers. I will do more research about schools that are worth my money and not useless 🙂
I have one more question and if someone can help me that would be great....
Lets say Im thinking about Health Science or Nursing degree. Which one is better in case if I don't make it to med school, and I still can have good job.
Also I heard many times that going from nursing to med school is not possible...how is that?

What they mean is that nursing classes are not a preparation for medical school.
Nursing is an entirely separate field.
Nurses sometimes become physicians.
Physicians (from other countries) sometimes become nurses. The education and training are entirely distinct, though.

It's very possible, I've had two friends do it actually. However, both had to take post-bac classes to get all the pre-reqs in.

That's such a dumb requirement, man. Bleh.
