a) EMT - I've heard this is so common that it really no longer has much benefit.
b) Ophthalmology Technician - I would be working with 3 Ophthalmologists, but I already worked as a scribe for 4 Internists so I'm not sure this would help.
c) Research Assistant/Technician at UTSW - I already have 8 months of research but I'm not published. I'm applying to low and mid tier MD schools so I'm not sure having a lot of research would even help.

What do you guys think? I will also continue volunteering in my spare time.

All three will help your application, so I would say do which ever one you find the most interesting.

I was going to say Ophth Tech because it sounds the coolest. Plus it pays the most so do that. If you're applying to schools who won't really care much for research other than what you have already, then you don't have to do research.

I would choose between the Research and Ophth Tech.

Thank you all for your opinions.
Are there any benefits to getting an EMT these days? I live in Dallas so getting a job won't be too difficult

During one of my interviews at a Texas school, my interviewer said he favored applicants who were either EMTs or ER scribes due to the amount of clinical exposure you get.

I always go with the field that has the hottest bitches to work with because doing what you like most will be hard to talk passionately about in an interview.

ER scribe specifically? I was a scribe for some Internists.
