I have the option of doing Pediatrics or ObGyn. I'd appreciate some helpfully advice on which rotation would be better first?

I did ob/gyn first, then peds back to back .. not by choice, it just so happened to work out that way with our lottery here at TCOM. I was glad ob/gyn came before peds -- you basically get to follow the natural progression from conception to birth through the first several years, etc. I didn't have any problems transitioning from ob/gyn to peds.

Good luck!

Ob/Gyn....get the pain over with as soon as possible

Agree with this; doesn't really matter otherwise--they will both be painful to some degree (OB>>Peds though).

It doesn't matter. If you have a raffle, use your important ones to make sure OB and surgery aren't back to back.
Unless you dig that sort of thing.

Haha. That's my schedule. OB/Gyn (2 months) and then surgery and 2 surgical subspecialties (3 months). I'm going to be living in scrubs for a long long time.

Yeah, but I agree with the above poster I think ob/gyn is a nice segue for peds since it does follow the natural course of life. From what I've read on here the ob/gyn shelf is limited in scope so perhaps it may be easier for you to get adjusted to what a shelf exam is like if you take ob/gyn first.

I would like to thank all who gave me their input ......shuuuuuu.........I did Ob/Gyn first and just finished Pediatrics. Wasn't as bad as I thought, but thankfully I want have to do that again. I'll be starting my 12 wk rotation in Surgery next week.

Thanks and good luck to all!
