which position is better? ER Scribe or CVICU tech

I've been recommended to apply as an ER Scribe and have an interview Tuesday. I have almost 3 years experience as an ER tech and years of experience in other healthcare settings(cardiology, sports medicine). Prior to being approached about the Scribe position, I had applied for an opening as a CVICU tech at a major hospital affiliated with top-tier medical school. Of course, today I received a email requesting to set up an interview. The Scribe job is at my current place of employment while the CVICU job is about an hour and a half away. If it matters at all, I am applying this coming cycle.

Which job pays more? Do that one. You already have more than enough "healthcare" experience. You are past the point of marginal returns on this part of your application. Driving 3 hours roundtrip also seems highly not worth it.

I'd move for CVICU position. I loathe long commutes. Lol

Interview at both, and if you are given the chance to pick one, pick the job where you see yourself being the happiest.

If it were me with your background, I would choose scribe for these reasons (assuming equal pay):

- You already have plenty of direct patient contact anyway; the scribe job would give you a different lens
- You wouldn't have to move, like you would for the cvicu job

However, I would guess the cvicu tech position pays more so you'll have to factor that in for yourself.
