There are very few HOT physicians out there. Whenever we residents sit around and play the "Whom would you sleep with?" game (yes, we're anal enough to say "whom", but lax enough to end the sentence with a preposition; that's how we mix it in the NE) the girls are always able to name a few of the male attendings, whereas we guys come up with ZILCH. We have to resort to IM residents or Dental residents (holy God, those girls are smokin').
So, when you hear Roja talk about hot attendings, she means men only (Roja, you're a girl, right?). The women attendings always turn out heinous.
This would seem to defy logic, since there are a few - and I mean a very, very few - cute ER resident girls out there, but somehow they morph into ugly wenches in the transition to attendinghood.
I wish it weren't so, but it is.
And since there are so few HOT MDs out there, the addition of just one to a program can up its HOTmeter to sizzling status, and the departure of just one can drop it to frigid levels. So it's an unpredictable business, making it very hard to establish a rep for having HOT or ugly residents.
Not that that'll keep us from guessing.
Unrelated: In my experience, DO girls are waaaaaaaay hotter than MD girls. People always have the same immediate explanation for this, but I'm not sure I buy into it.
As for ERgirl, we obviously hit a raw nerve there with her, so let's cut her some slack instead of ganging up on her. It probably sucks being a girl and knowing that you're judged (by women and men alike) largely on your looks, and then having your fears confirmed by your supposedly professional and mature colleagues.
I'm not ripping on y'all - I'm first in the unprofessional and immature line - but I'd rather we not pounce on ERgirl's insecurities.
