I am having trouble making a decision with my life and I was hoping some of you could provide insight....
I applied to dental school this past cycle, had one interview and was subsequently wait listed at NYU. I still have not received word from them and it is not looking good thus far.
I applied last year with a 3.19 20CHEM, 20RC, 19PAT, 17BIO, 23CARVING, 18AA, 18TS. Too bad for that bio score... I have recently completed my B.Sc. and will be applying this year with a 3.29 (based on my own calculations). I have copious dental experience, extracurriculars (including pres/co-founder of dental club), volunteering, research ,etc...
I am contemplating starting a master's degree and this is where I am seeking your advice... I applied to the UMDNJ's M.S. Biomedical sciences program, which is one year, allowing for enrolment in two dental courses, lab rotations, thesis, etc... So if I do that, I could graduate in one year and then attend dental school if I am successfull in gaining admission somewhere. My other option is, again, to apply now and if I do not acquire a spot by Jan start a M.Sc. in dental sciences at McGill (starts in Jan 2008)---->thesis-based in dental-related research at a well-respected institution and most likely getting published. This program would be two years, after which I would apply again to dental school.
So what would you do.... keep in mind I'm from Canada and McGill would be cheaper...plus montreal is amazing....and from what i've heard about newark...yah...but is 20 min from NYC.
Anyways now i'm rambling. Looking forward to your comments.
