You do realize that those choices are often largely overlapping.

In private practice the proportion of inpatient and outpatient work would vary depending on specialty, privileges, payment mix, season, personal preference...

Similarly, public practice, academic practice, HMO practice, locum tenens might all vary depending on the needs of the service and the skills and specialty of the physician.
