which school wins for rudest rejections

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ohio State last year. It said something like, "We have reviewed your file and found that you are not qualified for an interview. You do not meet the standard that Ohio State sets for medical education." Ironic since I know of one head-case who goes there and got in with a 26 (took the MCAT 5 times to get a 26, that makes sense).

uc davis. like northwestern, they purge you from their system, only they can't even afford a stamp to send you a letter and send an email instead.

Definitely UC Davis. Georgetown's letter was kind of rude, too.

Gtown's rude in all phases of the process. I didn't send them a secondary because they were annoying.

UC davis... for sure..they suck

Well, I'm partial to Hopkins, but that's just my $0.02 from the 'rejection' thread.

McMaster. Hands down.

They shoot you down and say that if you plan on submitting an application next year you need to submit a new one.

So you don't get in, they automatically assume that you won't get in anywhere else and will reapply, and you're potentially lazy enough to turn in the same app again. WTF!!!

Duke...They don't even tell you; you have to log in to their "application page" and just find out.

Georgetown....wtf is a hoya anyways?. Thank goodness I'm not going to that !@#$%^ school!!!

I'll put in a vote for Georgetown. 👍

I believe it is a bulldog or something like a bulldog.

I got my rejection letter from Tulane in October for the 2004-2005 school year. Like I was still sitting around waiting--Oh gosh I hope Tulane lets me in 2 months after classes started. Thanks a lot--I didn't even want to go there I almost walked out of my interview 😡

great. now my neurotic checking of that status page must begin!
(just curious, what's rude about georgetown rejections in specific?)

that's easy. definitely georgetown.

something like sorry but there's no space for you in our class. and for me personally, they sent me my rejection a couple days before receiving my secondary, so that kind of pissed me off. it'd be nice to have that 100 bucks back (or however much it was, i forget). to the person who decided not to submit their secondary - good choice, i wish i hadn't.

I didn't know schools tell you that you got rejected on a status page. If you don't mind my asking, what did it say? All mine says is that "application is in screening" for like two months. 😡

I vote for Georgetown. Their rejection letter said something like "it is not possible to offer you a space in the class of 2005." Not possible ?? Ugh, what a cr@ppy word choice! 👎

When I was applying, two different schools sent me rejection letters with a handwritten note at the bottom saying that they sincerely hoped I would never become a doctor.

Put in another vote for Northestern from me.

Northwestern and Mayo have definitely been the rudest so far. "Unfortunately, your application will no longer be considered."

On an odd digression, did anyone else notice that UCSF has the nicest rejection letters? "We have come to this decision reluctantly...this adverse decision does not mean that we believe that you are unqualified to enter this medical school on either personal or scholarly criteria."

It's nice that if they're going to reject you, they at least take the time to do it in a nice way, LOL.

yeah, i agree mayo sucks ass.

Neither Georgetown nor NWern have particularly "rude" rejection letters...I think what we're pissed about is the attitude these schools have. Examples: NWern asking you to write an essay praising their curriculum. Georgetown sending rejection letters the day of cashing your check.

Schools with attitude? I nominate Stanford and USC...

That is terrible. That is very rude. 🙁

Hopefully, you have proved them wrong.

Indeed, I applied again the year I got out of prison and it's been smooth sailing.

Ah. I see that you used your hard-won "skilz" learned in prison to impress the adcoms, eh?

I will second the nomination for NW too.......at least put the label correctly

HOLY MOO! That was the exactly my reaction when I got my letter yesterday. What - are they having fingerless chimps stick the labels to the envelopes with their tongues?! 😕

Why are USC and Stanford "schools with attitude"? Just curious.

God bless,

Putting in my vote for Northwestern.

Yea, at an interview Friday a school asked me if I had any recent arrests or felony convictions. The smart ass in me was bubbling to the top, but I restrained myself.

I guess they've got to ask. In hindsight, I shouldn't have sold that heroin in the school parking garage before the interview.

On the right side of the screen, in the black area, is actually a fairly polite rejection...Happening upon it, though, is not so polite. They could at least send an email telling you to check your status. Whatever...

Thank you for your interest in attending the Duke University School of Medicine. We are sorry to inform you that the Committee on Admissions is unable to consider you further for a place in the entering class and will not be able to offer you an interview.
While we recognize that this decision may be disappointing, the committee wishes to express its appreciation to you for considering the Duke Medical School and that this decision in no way reflects on your future potential as a physician. We wish you all the best in your future academic pursuits.

miami is def the rudest that i have received. "Your composite score was significantly below our average"

hahah, i hope the admissions people read this thread and it gets back to them. ... i think they are all rude for not lettin me in!

yeah, that duke thing is definitely the worst... they don't even let you know at any point?

Yeah, being able to fashion a shiv... uh, scalpel...out of a bar of soap must have given you some extra points with the adcoms.

On the other side of the spectrum I got a very nice rejection from west virginia... even tho I honestly don't even remember applying there. 😛

I must've been drunk when looking at that AMCAS page (got WV mixed with VA?), but I got a pleasant *hand signed* letter from the dean saying that since I wasn't a resident they couldn't consider me further.

Hey, at least they sent a fast reply (I think this was a week or so after my appl was sent?), and didn't try to cash a secondary check from me before informing me that I was ineligible.

And I'm still touched that a real human signed it - not a print out.

man, it never gets old, does it? no matter how many times you try to expose pre-allo to sarcasm, they remain oblivious. don't you have some fish in a barrel somewhere that need to be shot? 😉

oh, and by the way, my vote goes to mayo for their "we can't put a stamp on your rejection letter until you send us $75, so hurry up, *****" way of doing business. bastards.

Well, at least they aren't requiring a self addressed stamped envelope quite yet! (That may be a bad sign)

I haven't seen anyone complain about VCU yet. I got an email from them telling me my status page has been updated and that I needed to check it. I got all excited thinking I got a secondary. But there was just a paragraph telling me I wasn't competitive enough and would no longer be considered. Nice. I would've taken the rejection email over getting my hopes up to check their stupid status page. Asses.
