Hi everyone,
I have been going crazy trying to whittle down my list of dental schools to apply to primarily for financial reasons (these suckers are expensive!). I would REALLY APPRECIATE any advice on which schools I should nix based on my stats. I've already gone through and completely taken out any non canadian friendly schools. I'm just finishing up my personal statement, but am aiming for July to submit my apps.
Here are my academic stats:
Canadian student and Asian - Honours Bachelor of Science (Specialist in Psychology, Minor in Physiology)
BCP: 3.30 SGPA: 3.10 Nonscience GPA: 3.67 CGPA: 3.40
Canadian DAT--> AA/TS: 20 Bio: 21 Chem: 19 Reading: 19 PAT: 18
Halfway during my undergraduate program, AADSAS declared that Psychology would no longer be a science designation regardless of the degree your university gave you. Obviously, this change screwed me over a little. In terms of my grades, first year was a royal bomb, but I had a huge upward trend going from 2. something in first year to no less than 3.6 in each of my subsequent years.
Extracurriculars/Work:
- Summer volunteering abroad in dental clinics
- Over 2000 hours at a pedo dental office
- 200 hours at various general practices in my area
- Recognized in a few published papers
- Over 3000 hours as a research assistant in a child development lab and cognitive neuroscience lab
- Office manager of health and wellness clinic and pedo dental office
Schools:
Midwestern- Arizona, Loma Linda, U of Pacific, Colorado, Conneticut, Howard, U of Florida, Nova, Midwestern- Illinois, U of Illinois, Tufts, Boston, Maryland, Michigan, Detroit Mercy, Minnesota, Creighton, Nebraska, UMDNJ, Columbia, Buffalo, NYU, Case Western, Ohio State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Temple, U Penn, Meharry, Baylor, U of Texas San Antonio, U of Texas Houston, Utah, Roseman, Marquette
Thank you!
