I'm applying in the 2018 cycle and am approved for the FAP program. I saw a post that mentioned some schools only waiving secondary fee if you used them as one of your 16 schools that AMCAS waives primary fee for, but it only mentioned BU and Penn.

Does anyone know of any others that do this?

Just trying to plan accordingly for when I add on additional schools.

All schools using AMCAS will either reduce or eliminate secondary fees. Which one means you gotta go to the school's website and do a little research.

When you apply, your app will be marked as a FAP recipient.

That's good. AAMC says that FAP will save an applicant est. $750 in primary application fee if used to it's potential. I was worried, possibly like OP, that secondaries would be almost as expensive and not waived. I'm grateful that some schools will also waive or reduce secondary fees. Still concerned about affording flights and transportation.... might have to start medical school with some credit card debt...

I applied to ~30 schools. Pretty much every single one waived the secondary fee because I used the FAP. University of Iowa will reimburse you a portion of your travel expenses for interview too.

None of them said anything along the lines of them having to be one of the 16. I would say most schools will waive it.

Did you have to email the admissions for each school to waive the secondary fee; or was the fee pre-waived upon getting the secondary and submitting it? Thank you! Also, great info from University of Iowa- makes me want to attend their medical school even more so now.

It varied school to school. Some were prewaived, others had you forward your FAP acceptance email.

Loved my interview at Iowa, unfortunately I was rejected post interview. It seemed like a really great medical school.
