Just for good fun, don't nobody get angry...

Which service do you think has the hottest residents. I personally gotta give a shout to the 'gyno girls...ever seen that episode of Scrubs?😍

Members don't see this ad.

Though there are not many women in surgery, our program contends with the OB girls- guys are always happy when one of us rotates on their service. I've been told that it's okay even when we bring a black cloud of difficult patients with us since we are "easy on the eyes." 🙂

As for the guys, surgery/surg. subspecilaties probably takes it home. There are so many of them that there is enough to go around for all of the girls. Ha ha.

Merry Christmas directly from the Evil Empire itself! Hopefully there will be no gunfights in front of the tree in the community here tonight.

😱

OB/GYN??!! Really??? Not from what I've seen. They all seem to be pretty NOT good-looking, and they're all angry, too. There's usually one or two psych female residents that are nice looking. Also, I know they're not residents, but the Pharm chicks where I work are hot!! Aside from that I think the next best are the ER residents. There are a few of them. Forget IM, it's always the worst.

The girls I've seen in Peds are hot!

Derm definitely!

From what I have seen, the girls in Ob/Gyn are not that great.

Oh yeah!! Totally forgot about peds...yeah, they're usually pretty hot.

The hottest female doc in my hospital is a Psych resident. Next hottest is a puerto rican, 20 something y/o, tight bod, killer dressing spanish translator.... grrr SPICY! I call her even when i dont need help...and all im thinkin is id like to show you MY chilie 😍

At my medical school alma mater, the best looking female residents were the derm residents by a magnitude of ten. They were all AOA and bright as hell too. For about three years, the program matched nothing but tall, thin, beautiful blondes (all at least 5'8"). The year I graduated they matched a tall, thin, beautiful, brunette, and we all joked that she was the token non-blonde. Not a single male in any of the resident classes while I was there.

At USF, its hands down the OB/GYN residents. At a nearby community OB/GYN program, I dont' remember there being quite the hottie collection... but woowee the USF OB residents are top notch.

A few hotties on Optho... one or two in surgery, peds has a few here and there, same as IM...

but no one can compete with OB/GYN. If their website had a link to their photos I would sure as hell put it up there.

Q, DO

I'll have to vote derm - nice skin care/stay young-looking through residency, and they have time to workout too, which most other residents don't have.

Ortho has some hot guys because they generally make the time to workout more than most other residents too.

I would include psych females. They are the perfect women to have a wild time with but not always a good idea to have a long term relationship with. There is something about psych that makes the doctors become so weird and crazy.😀

They may not be residents but, in PM&R the PTs and OTs are great eye candy! And many of them are young and single!😎

Also many women that are FP and EM residents are hot!

Derm is #1 and Peds is #2 in my book.

Damn, those girls in derm are hot!

I think that if you are in a specialty with great working hours, you'll have more time to look more aesthetically pleasing.

How did this stereotype ever get started? So if you get a fellowship in cardiology, do you end up getting a heart attack yourself? If you go into urology, do you automatically become the poster child for erectile dysfunction? If you become a fireman, does your house burn down the next day?

Most med schools these days are at least 50% female, yet females dominate residencies like ob & peds so of course you'll see more hot chicks in those fields. There aren't too many hot general surgeons, engineers or taxi drivers simply because they're male dominated professions.

Let's look at this another way - which service has the hottest MALE residents? Derm? Ob? Peds? More like ortho, gen surg etc.

Hey, i resent that. I'm hot, i'm a chick, i'm a general surgeon.

I was talking about guys when I voted derm and ortho.

I have to agree some with the psych comment though, but it's nto that psych makes them weird, it's that people with some psych issues themselves or in their close family and friends may find that field most interesting. I know most don't fit this stereotype, but some certainly do. Many of us gravitate towards our specialties b/c of something in our personal lives that sparked our interest in it. Just like the people focused on looking good might gravitate towards derm or plastic surgery.

Interestingly, psych has the highest divorce rates amongst physicians:

http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/press/1997/MARCH/199703.HTM

Over 30 years of follow-up, the divorce rate was 51 percent for psychiatrists, 33 percent for surgeons, 24 percent for internists, 22 percent for pediatricians and pathologists, and 31 percent for other specialties. The overall divorce rate was 29 percent after three decades of follow-up and 32 percent after nearly four decades of follow-up.

Anything having to do with pharmacy...we have some really good lookin Pharm. D's...maybe it's just cuz they seem so well rested and have time to put on make-up. The pharm reps too are not so bad at all either

Paris Hilton,

I've got so many questions to ask you. Why are you going into medicine when your family has all the money in the world? Even the highest paid physician has a salary that's only a drop in the bucket compared to Nicky's and your trust fund. How do you have so much time to party all over the world despite having patients to take care of?

Your show, "The Simple Life," is hilarious. You and Nicole Ritchie crack me up. BTW, I love your "video!" Tell Rick Solomon and Shannen Dougherty that I said hi.😉

... that being said, Orthopaedics has the hottest residents. Total beefcake -- all muscle, baby!!

Interesting link - I've read this before but I wouldn't put too much stalk into it since the overall divorce rate is close to 50% in the first place.

My theory on psych attracting its share of weird people is that going to med school for 4 yrs seems like so much overkill. If someone from day 1 wants to be a shrink, how do they motivate themselves to study all that anatomy, path, pharm, internal med etc to "end up" in psych where they'll hardly ever use it? I would assume that most psych residents would view not using a stethoscope, no physical exams, no radiology reports, minimal lab values etc are the "good" reasons for entering psych - essentially, they avoid doing all the things that make a doctor a doctor. It's almost like they pride themselves over doing nothing.

It's kind of like trying out for football, making the team, and then begging the coach to bench them. "Please don't put me in the game...Don't pass it to me...I don't want to block for anyone...I don't want to tackle anyone etc..."

Why bother playing?

I'm sure you are - my point was that you won't see too many hot females where there aren't too many females in the first place and vice-versa.

Now get some much deserved sleep! 😉

I went into medicine the same reason you did - "I like to help people." 😀

Social work and physical therapy. Nice, compassionate, caring, patient and hot. And well-rested and made up, unlike residents on almost any service.

Nice bio Quinn...

Citizenship? Why because i'm Canadian? There is no 80 hour work week in Canada - i'm still doing 120!!! And i'm still hot (but obviously not as hot as the pharmacists, physios, social workers, nurses, etc. as they seem to be the ones getting to date the male residents). Life isn't fair.

Now if you were in NYC, where I am, you would get plenty of action inside the on-call room.:hardy:

Paris,

Helping people is great. So does the garbagemen and the employees at your chain of hotels. Your "video" helped retailers in the black market😱. Since you're the "hot" expert, I just wonder how you balance the time to party, model, party, and practice medicine?

Seriously, I think FP also has great looking females.

I think EM residents are the best.

Well, if not the best looking, atleast the coolest and most laid back. And we all have a twisted sense of humor. Not to mention, we are all experts in removing stuck tampons (and other unremovable objects inserted high and mighty).

With the exchange rate, 120 hrs Canadian is aboot 80 American. 😛

Not that you personally are complaining, but it baffles me why some go into surgery, ob etc and then complain about the hours. It's like being with an abusive boyfriend and when all your friends ask why are you still with him you respond by saying, "But I love him."

yes, b/c youre canadian.

With those female drug reps, sometimes I just dream using their business card in order to call them for a date. Many of them are hot! On the reverse side, a lot of girls that I know say that the male drugs reps are good looking

In Manhattan private practice offices, there are tons of beautiful female office managers. It is always great to have a secretary that is good eye candy.

Tussy, because you're Canadian, you just have to handle the cards you're dealt with. You forgot to mention that the young female scrub nurses get to date the male residents also.

BTW, this is an awesome thread😀

Young female scrub nurses? Our scrub techs are all over 40 and over 200 pounds. At least i don't have them to compete with here.

Yes, i agree, this is an awesome thread.

I still take offense to the Canadian bashing though.😉

I hear ya, ... I've been doing 120 in CCU... and being on alone as a R1 without a fellow isn't fun.

Hey, you now have more of a chance with the male residents. If you can't hook up with the residents, then try the hockey players! We US citizens are only busting your chops. I have relatives who live in Montreal and I have much respect for your country. Feel free to lightheartedly diss our culture and unabashed American arrogance.

Anybody else think that the drug reps are the former cheerleaders from highschool? The ones that wouldn't hang out with you because you played chess and wore your jeans a little too high. Now they invite me to dinners and give me all sorts of cool stuff. Like pens and a cool Nexium letter opener.
I guess LL Cool C. Ladies Love Cool C (and his sweet DEA number)

I haven't met too many hot drug reps, but my career is young yet... BTW, I agreee with someone above, the OR staff at our hospital has some choice picks. Can't say much for derm, our school doesn't have a residency.

Wait until you go on rotations. Drug reps, be they male or female, are pretty dang hot. Even the ones in their 40s are do-able.

in my opinion, UMKC has a couple pretty residents - I know an OB/GYN resident who is pretty cute - she also enjoys teaching the students. some of my friends tried to hit on a UMKC Radiology resident who did her prelim year last year at our school as well (one of her medicine months was with our team) - i have read plain films with her during downtime on Surgery (she is also really good at explaining things) overall the residents are OK - we get a lot of residents from overseas.

I recently found out my (female) high school senior class president is a drug rep. Not a cheerleader though. I think claiming drug reps are the hottest specialty however, is cheating.

I think general surgeons are the hottest, especially after they I&D butt puss under pressure. Oh wait, that's disgusting, as are most of the smells associated with general surgeons.....

I don't think I could date someone that said, "Really?..I'll be right down," (in their most excited voice) when I told them I've got butt-pus in the ED.

Where do you work and what kind of weirdos do you have for gen surg residents?

Look for someone outside of the medical field, otherwise your dinner conversations are going to be filled with talk of BMs and strange nasal drainage.
