I am finishing taking classes this summer and was a sophomore last year and will be a junior this year. My question is do summer classes count as being part of my sophomore or junior year?

I am hoping they count as my sophomore year because I didn't do great this summer and was hoping for my junior year to show that upward trend adcoms look for but that will be difficult if these classes count as junior year. (Biochem sucks)

The following year. Class in summer following freshman year is considered a sophomore class.

Have you printed your application out yet? When you do you can see how the grades will break down. I'm pretty sure AMCAS divides it up based on the number of credit hours you've taken, I think that's what they did on mine at least. I don't remember if they break it the years up though.
