So there are a few DO schools that have their white coat ceremonies during the third year of med school.

Are there any allopathic schools that also hold it during the third year?

Or is it ALWAYS in first year across the board?

Mayo doesn't have one at all. Miami is at the end of first year. I'm sure there are more interesting cases.

White coats are soooo 1990's. :soexcited:

My undergrad's med school (to which I am excited to interview at soon) didn't have white coats for their students at all- or if it did, they never wore them to anything.

Some other schools have them for everything. The place I went to grad school at started having a white coat ceremony for the Ph.D students. The only time I wore a lab coat was when working with radiation or thallium, and the coat is supposed to be disposable.

So I'm guessing it would be dumb to choose a school that has the white coat ceremony during the first year instead of third year. So I guess it's not really a big deal.

Yes that should not be close to a deciding factor.
