Yes, I'll admit that I only added them after I received the email (but considering that I have no MD interviews right now, it's worth a shot, right?)

After readign their curriculum, it sounds amazing! It is definitely a program that I would love to get into. The thing is, I have noooooo idea how competitive it is!

Just curious as to who applied to UCLA-PRIME out of the SDN crowd...

did you have to write any additional essays for UCLA-PRIME?
 
I decided to apply as well. My goal is to work with low-income and homeless populations so it seemed like a great fit for me.

I applied too, but I'm not expecting any love. It's still UCLA, I seriously doubt they would have different standards.
 
Quick question:

Considering how most of us got the email yesterday and with the email saying applications are due on 12/21, would that even leave enough time to complete(given that we have to send in a primary, and then wait 1-3 weeks for the customary secondary)?
 
I'm pretty sure that 12/21 deadline is for hte AMCAS primary. There is probably a seperate deadline for the seconddary/LORs.

Also, if you go on their site, it says that they only started giving out secondaries starting the last week of November (so, I wouldn't worry too much bout the 12/21 deadline now)

I've emailed the coordinator with some general questions..will keep you updated with her response!!

I got my UCLA PRIME secondary 11/21, submitted 12/3, complete 12/11. I hope I get an interview. I would love to stay in Cali for med school.

you must also fill out your activities on a grid--kinda like davis i think---and there is a supplementary disadvantaged form--i barely just looked at it--so i hope that helps..bACK TO LAB...FAB =)

hrmm...i am not complete yet--i JUST received the secondary---but I added ucla prime to my amcas designation on 12/1 and they sent me an e-mail saying they had received it on 12/6. i'll PM you with the rest =)

Three letters of recommendation will be required for the UCLA PRIME program. One from a science faculty member who can evaluate an applicant’s academic ability. The second letter writer should speak to the applicant’s leadership qualities. The third letter writer should be from a letter writer that can address other qualities or abilities the applicant would like convey to the UCLA PRIME Admissions Committee. Please do not submit more that three letters unless your school is part of letter service that sends all letters that are part of your file. If you letters are being provided to us by your university’s letters service please list the 3 letters you would like us to consider in the provided area below.

I just got a secondary as well! I never thought I would but my work has been in underserved populations. Who else is complete?

I just got my secondary for UCLA Prime, seems like they expect a pretty quick turnaround. Has anyone asked them how they select for the different school associations within the program. Since the app asks for your program interests

I applied on AMCAS when I got the email on 12/06. I just rcvd the
2ndary yesterday and it's due Jan 9th.

How about everyone else? When did you apply to the program on AMCAS?

We should add dates when we applied and when we rcvd the secondary 👍

i think this program sounds awesome from what i've read. only a few spots, but i think it is worth a try! good luck guys!
 
Could the ppl that get secondaries/interview invites please post their stats(GPA/MCAT/ECs/URM or non URM status) to give us a better view of what the school is looking for?

Hi Everyone! Just found this thread... so I didn't learn about UCLA Prime until last night (the night before the deadline) but luckily I got my AMCAS application in. I am just wondering-- what email is it that you guys all got that informed you about the program? Was it from UCLA? I did not receive an email and did not even know this program existed. I'm wondering if it was sent out to everyone who applied to UCLA because I did not apply there; although, I did apply to Charles Drew. Anyway, just wondering about this email. Thanks and hope you all enjoy the Holiday!

I turned in my secondary on Jan 4th (walked it in their office) and had an email in my inbox a couple hours later saying I was complete.

well on the application, it says that PRIME is available for all three of the UCLA programs (Dave Geffen, Drew, and UCR)...so I would say it is a program within the school...

Drew has its own AMCAS designation and secondary aside from UCLA

the secondary questions for PRIME that I received are listed specifically for the Dave Geffen UCLA PRIME...but I assume they work for both Geffen and Drew?

PS. Is anyone having trouble typing onto the secondary form? I can't even cut & paste.. 😡

I was at first, then I used a comp with the most recent version of word, and typed right on it.

UCLA Prime, from what I understand, is a completely separate process than any of the UCLA Programs. DIfferent application, different admissions com, you have to interview with them specifically.

You should have been able to designate you wanted to do PRIME at any of the three programs...Geffen, Drew or Haider. So, the questions are for all of the UCLA Programs. At the end tho, you get admitted to one, and associate with that school. I did Geffen and Drew, b/c I applied to both of those...

So, we should only check the program which we applied for? On the website it says:

"Applicants offered secondary applications will identify their preference(s) to which UCLA PRIME program that they’re interested in whether UCLA-main, Drew-UCLA, UCR-UCLA. "

I assumed since they put the (s) after preference that we could apply to more than one so I checked all three boxes. 😳

Sorry I was unclear 🙁 I only checked boxes for the ones I applied to, but I did call them, and they said you can check any and all that you want to apply to...so I did two, but you can certainly do all three! Good luck!:luck:
 
I applied to to UCLA Prime a few days before the december deadline and am still waiting for my secondary. I am getting no love from California schools, so looks like I will be going to UTSW or OSU, even though I'm a california resident.
 
who else is complete at UCLA PRIME? My deadline for the secondary was 1/9 but I didn't get the 'complete' email until today.
 
I also applied right before the deadline, and I'm still secondaryless. Is anyone else in that situation?

Im complete: turned it on on Jan 4th, (walked it in office) and by the time I got to work I had a complete email in my inbox.

I heard they are going to start inviting for interviews at the very end of this month. Anyone else have more info?

Does that mean they haven't actually started interviewing? Where did you get this info? I called to check on my app and they told me that they were backed up in opening the mail that 's why my file wasn't complete. Good thing you walked it in! 🙂
