So I don't know if political polls are allowed on Student Doctor - I'm a little afraid of asking b/c whenever people ask for health advice here :nono:, everyone freaks out!... oh well...I'll take the risk because I'm really curious.

The Canadian federal election was held 3 weeks ago and there was a picture in the Toronto Star of a couple who had a sign on their lawn that said "Obama for Prime Minister"...oh dear.

There are so many Obama supporters at the hospital where I work, one of the techs jokingly asked if we would even hire anybody who wasn't a Democrat!

There should be a spot for other: write in: Ron Paul 😀

amen, sofficat 🙂 your post about getting to meet him made me sooo jealous! but, i got my chance at a rally in pittsburgh last spring...definitely one of the highlights of my time in college 🙂

Sorry to exclude Ron Paul, but I actually only included candidates who were eligible for 270 electorial votes (meaning they were on enough ballots throughout the country to get that many). Ron Paul was a Republican candidate, which would mean he was out as of the primary. And after losing the GOP primary apparently he rejected the candidacy offered him by the Constitutional Party of Montana. (thanks Wikipedia!)

haha- don't worry sambone. nobody's offended here. he's just so freakin great i couldn't have voted for anybody else, even if I did have to write him in.

pupsforseeing- nice to meet a fellow follower of 'the man' as we fondly call him here at the Mises Institute. Yeah- getting to meet him and actually have a conversation with him was amazing. His talk was awesome too.
I loved his letter he posted today on the Campaign for Liberty website... "In our campaign for liberty, we are just getting started. Let the Revolution begin."

I was somewhat surprised he didn't straight join the Constitutionalist Party, as he seems way more in line with their line of thinking than the neocon GOPers. I voted for the Constitutionalist Party candidate in 2004 cause I didn't like Kerry and I really didn't like GWB. 😛

But I voted for Obama this time...moderate independent indecisive swing voters for Obama! I think...

california passed our measure requiring that breeding sows, veal calves, and laying hens be able to turn around, lie down, and stretch their limbs. that's quite relevant to the forum, and besides obama's victory, i'm happiest about that!

that's awesome! good for cali!

MA voted to outlaw greyhound racing! Another huge victory!

I know! I was so excited to hear that! I go to school in MA, but I'm not a resident, so I was the crazy annoying friend who kept nagging everyone who's a resident to vote yes on 3! I even gave one of them a pretty hard time about voting no anyway, and she told me she instantly regretted it. I feel like yesterday was a pretty big victory for mass all around.

👍👍👍

sorry to hijack, but are ferrets still illegal in MA?

They are legal as long as they are altered and vaccinated for distemper or rabies.

I'm curious...I wasn't aware there was a law that any animal *must* be vaccinated except for rabies? I know they are susceptible to canine distemper, but why would it be a law if it's not even a law for dogs? It's not zoonotic, if I recall. Just curious...besides, the ferret distemper vaccine is a huge pain in the rump to get. The hospital I used to get mine done at never had it in stock for like 4-5 months at a time. I just gave up, plus he's got adrenal disease...melatonin worked real well for growing his fur back though! 👍

The small animal clinic I spent time at used the canine distemper vaccine for ferrets.
