Hi guys, so I am planning to ask for a letter of recommendations from a dentist. However I don't know whom I should ask. I worked for this dentist for about 2 years and it was two years ago up North and because I had to transfer to a state university which is down South I had to quit the job. I couldn't be able to find a dental-related job or volunteer during my years in the state school down here but recently I started to volunteer in a dental clinic. The dentist I found finally let me volunteer in his office. I'm planning to volunteer until I apply which is in June or so. Should I ask my previous dentist or the one I am volunteering for right now for a letter of recommendations? They are both nice. Thanks for your input!

You could always just do both. Sometimes, people take FOREVER to get around to writing a rec letter, so it's a great idea to have a backup! Get one from the dentist up north right now and store it in Interfolio, and ask the current dentist for one after you have volunteered there for a while.

Go the AADSAS FAQs thread to see Interfolio instructions, in case you need them.

Which one knows you better/would have better things to say about you? In this situation, I don't think it matters that much where the letter comes from, but instead how well they can sell you. Can they speak about your character/personality and specific events or just that you were on time/seemed interested in the career?

Si.... ¿Porque no los dos? It's a terrifying feeling when your letters don't come in when you need em. Just ask both.

I second this. Some of my letter writers took WAAAAY too long to finish my letters. I'm glad that I had more people than I actually needed for letters, and that I started early. It's not a bad idea to just get both dentists to write letters, oh and definitely use Interfolio.

Thanks for your advice. I'll try to ask both.
