when i check different schools' websites, they kind of say different things, so i don't want to ask a million different profs.

i need to figure out my schedule and know what classes to take to request LORs though, because as a transfer, all of my old relationships with profs are from my old school. right now i think i'd be okay to ask the woman i do research with for one and then perhaps one of the profs of one of my major classes because next year we'll be doing some council things and spending more time together outside the class room. what else do i need? how many science LORs? humanities/social science? if my school has a committee, what others will i need?

also, for the committee letter, how am i supposed to get them to know who i really am? i don't think i can actually talk to them until i go request one, and even then, i think it's just a form.

if no one wants to tell me, then can someone tell me if there's a list or something somewhere and where i can find it?

Like you said, all schools are different, but to play it safe I would recommend:
2 science profs
1 dentist
1 other prof/PI

Just my opinion.

The most standard LORs are the following:
2 from a science professor that tought you
1 from a non-science professor (english, history, psycology, sociology, etc)
1 from "something"... most people put thier dentist LOR here
