Anyone got accepted to med school with VR 8 ?

Yes, I have been accepted to two medical schools with a VR score of 8. I have also been waitlist at 5 schools, and I am waiting to hear the final decision from BU. You must have the "rest of the package" (ECs, great LOR, experience)in order to gain acceptance with a low VR score. I didn't apply right out of college. I am working for two years in a genetics research lab at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Nope. Nobody. I guess you'll have to be a nurse.

Sorry....I couldn't resist. See above post ^

go to www.mdapplicants.com search profiles, then search for people with 8 or less on VR who were accepted. 265 people show up who got an 8...i'm sure there are plenty more who had less than that who were accepted.

wow, i have way too much time on my hands! someone make me do my job! 😳

i used to have a 6. and i'm already in.... a MD school in the US.

I did it..

Its possible, just not easy.. you gotta have really good EC's, but that was already stated.

i got accepted into a couple schools, so i don't think an 8 is deadly. However, I did have an R writing, which might have helped.

Um.. you had a LOT more than just an R written. Sweet MDApp. 👍

Had a 6 and got secondaries, retested and got a 9, admitted into three schools.

My cousin got accepted to 3 MD programs with a 7, 10, 11 after he took a year off to work as an EMT. He is currently a 2nd year.
An 8 is totally acceptable if the rest of your application has some depth. 👍

A lot of people on this board. How is the rest of your score and your GPA and your ECs and your LORs and essays and everything else?????

Got into 5 schools with a VR of 8, with a total score of 31. I was only asked about my VR score at one of the ten schools I interviewed at and I wound up getting into that school.

I have a friend who was accepted to several top tier schools with a 7. Everything else was very strong, of course, but one back score is definitely not a deal-breaker.

Totally doable. I have VR = 8 and got accepted into 2 MD schools, wailisted at 2. I am a non-trad though, have Masters and worked in a research lab for several years. Have the rest of your application strong anf apply to a broad range of schools

7 on verbal, 'S' on writing... go figure!!

I decided to "change my strategy" for verbal right before exam day from "answering as many as I can right, and if I don't get to some, forget it" to "answer as many as I could, as fast as I could".

Obviously that was the dumbest idea in the world. So keep whatever strategy you used during practice.

Yeah. I got into many schools, including all my top choices with a VR 8.

According to the 06-07 MSAR, there's people who got into Harvard with VR 7. So you should be ok 🙂

me. and, i was never once asked about it at any of the 6 interviews i attended. my science scores were both a lot higher, so that might have helped. 8 is not by any means a terrible score. don't sweat it - i'm sure there are other parts of your application that'll captivate the attention of your interviewer rather than your vr score. best of luck.

a leeetttllle off, but I got into the four schools that I interviewed at (excellent schools) with a VR=9

I got other interviews, too, but declined them after some of the acceptances :luck:

**raises hand** It helps to have one other section in double digits though.
